I LOVED this laptop for the first 2 months.Then one evening I closed the laptop, walked into another room and opened the laptop.The lower right corner of the screen had shattered.I was relieved that the manufacturer warranty was still in effect and so called them.Lenovo support told me that this happens to their products and is considered an accident and isn't covered.The support guy on the phone said that this happened to his laptop too, and as a consumer, he was mad about this also.But the official Lenovo position is that closing the laptop may cause the screen to crack and is a normal course of its usage.

This review is based off the hardware of this laptop, not the OS, i.e. Windows 8.1. Win 8 is unique, and it can be difficult to navigate. But that is not the fault of Lenovo.

I've only had this laptop for a day. So this is my true first impression I will revise my review if I need to.

Pros: this laptop has a backlit keyboard, which is absolutely fantastic. Also putting it into the stand mode, so you can use the multi point touchscreen more efficiently, is very nice. The hinges seem very strong, and the keyboard is actually turned off while in this mode, so you don't accidentally push any buttons. The screen is really crisp, and bright. Obviously there's a lot of power saving settings that you can adjust, to your personal liking of course, but all in all it's set up pretty nice right out-of-the-box. I also like the finish of the laptop. No matter what, touch screens are going to smudge, fingerprints on a shiny glass screen is inevitable. But the finish surrounding the keyboard, and touchpad is smudge resistant, and it looks nice texturely. The keyboard has a very nice feel to it while typing. Some people don't like it, but I personally do. Also there is a caps lock LED, and I'm numlock LED, so you know when they're on. This laptop also has the Intel I7, with 8 gigabytes of system memory. So it does move pretty fast. But not as fast as I thought, see my Con comments below on why this is.

Cons: this thing came with a lot of Lenovo bloatware. Some of it may be useful, such as the facial recognition software, but most of it is the usual bloatware. I sold an Acer, with and I3, with 8gigs of memory, and a solid-state drive that moved faster than this, once I just of the power settings, and remove some of the bloatware, obviously that changed. But it really bogged down with all of it on there.So remove the bloatware, and you're good to go.

To sum up: This is a very nice laptop. Lenovo makes quality products, in my opinion. Once you tweak it a little bit, such as removing the bloatware, this thing is very, very fast. It's thin, it's light, and people are always going to ask you about it. It is a very cool looking laptop. Alsofrom what I'm reading, all the original complaints that the original flex had, I have been updated,such as a DVD drive.And people seem to speak highly of Lenovo's customer service, and warranty. If this is the price range that you're looking to use for a laptop, I suggest this one. Lenovo products can be very expensive, so this really isn't too bad. I think you'll enjoy it.

I am so disappointed. I purchased this computer because I was looking for middle of the line performance. The listed purchase price before the sale was in the $700s, for goodness sake. This computer should have been very good, if not the best. I feel like I purchased the cheesiest computer available with sub-par features. The touch screen has just plain not worked more than once, luckily it isn't completely broken. The mouse is a pain in the neck. It will right click when I'm clicking on the left side (which is unbelievable obnoxious) and the tent mode has only worked twice. Every other time, the screen won't flip. It's also incredibly slow, that's something I woud expect from an older computer, not one that can't have been manufactured more than two years ago. Again, I am so disappointed that I have wasted my time on this computer. I'm lucky to be able to send it back for a refund, otherwise I would be raising all kinds of hell. I paid for specific features on this device, and I expect them to work. The mouse just disappeared on me for a while and I had to reboot in order to get it back. DO NOT buy this computer. DON'T DO IT!

I am very happy with this laptop.I've had it for almost a month now, and I use it every day.I love the touchscreen; it came with Windows 8.1 and I have not upgraded to 10 yet but I'm surprisingly happy with 8.

I have at this point used many of the features and consider myself an intermediate to advanced computer user.It was simple to set up and is simple to use and I haven't had any problems with any programs or setup.It also comes happily clear of bloatware so there is little to delete or change upon setup.The processing speed is perfect for what I need.

I use this laptop primarily for typing documents as I have a transcription business.The keyboard is smooth, I feel the mouse pad is well placed and well designed.I have no complaints with any of this, and this laptop replaces a fairly new Acer whose keyboard I HATE.It does a great job for the price.

My one fairly large criticism is the optical drive, which is something I require in my business.In reading I have done, it appears some Lenovos have an issue burning a blank disk.This is clearly one of them!You can't do anything with a blank disk - I've tried different CDs and DVRs from different manufacturers.The drive is not recognized at all if there is a blank disk in it, and the laptop locks up so you have to reboot it.You often can't eject the disk at all without doing it manually with a pin.I've spent hours trying to figure this issue out and following instructions I've found on line for changing registry entries etc, but nothing seems to work for me.A disk that is formatted works flawlessly.I WILL end up calling technical support as it's clearly under warranty but I didn't want to waste a bunch more time on the phone just yet if I could figure it out myself!I have other laptops I can use for burning disks, but that is a pain.

Overall I rate this laptop 4 stars and if the disk issue can be fixed, at this point I would give it 5!
